Alfred Baku

Executive Vice President Gold Fields

Alfred Baku is the Executive Vice President and Head of Gold Fields West Africa (GFWA). Alfred was appointed to the role in 2014 and oversees the company’s Tarkwa and Damang gold mines in the Western Region of Ghana.

He joined Gold Fields in 2002, and has mostly held senior management positions, including General Manager of both Tarkwa and Damang mines.

Under Alfred’s leadership, GFWA continues to set high standards in operational excellence, safety, environmental stewardship, local enterprise development, as well as national and host community development.

Alfred is a mining engineer with over two decades of experience. He is the First Vice President of the Ghana Chamber of Mines.
